 In 2000, the superiority of Bells was recognised by the Royal Navy who needed to upgrade their lifesaving equipment in line with current Health & Safety at Work legislation. They allocated NATO Stock Numbers (NSNs) to all three models having assessed them as more versatile, compact and easier to use, with a much more accurate and longer reach of 40m, than any other line they had tested. Bells are the only throwing lines to have received such certification and approval and, as a result are now used in increasing numbers by many branches of the Armed Forces both in the UK and abroad.
